Hello,
Thank you to those who were able to attend yesterday.
In short the main objectives we decided needed attention were the following.:
A clear definition of plying for Hire along with a working group to be prepared for the Law Commission review.
We touched on Spit Kits.
Driver Health and Welfare as well as safety.
We agreed a Joint meeting / forum should be requested with TFL the outline request is below.:
Here is the Proposed draft we will put this on our site just in case it is missed by others.
Please write with suggestions and amendments.
This is first draft and it is fluid.
We are writing on combined basis following Sir Peter Hendy’s comments at the last transport committee at City Hall that Private Hire and Taxi could not sit in room together.
Understandably we are delighted to advise we have proved otherwise.
Following this ‘momentous’ event we would now request a joint town hall forum for both Private Hire and Taxi drivers, Organisations and operators to speak frankly to TFL and its officers.
Due to the upcoming consultation we believe that this will further assist all parties.
We cannot continue a them and us culture where people feel unheard or disregarded.
Please suggest some dates in the near future for this meeting to take place.
Thanks
Steve Garelick
